Stoke Canon

Stoke Canon is a small village outside of Exeter. The A396 runs through which is the Exeter to Tiverton Road.

Within the East Devon local authority area.

There is a village general stores, a post office and a local pub called the Stoke Canon Inn. The church is a lovely building with a tower, 4 bells and a clock. St Mary Magdelene is in the heart of the community and dates back to the 17th Century. The font is made from a solid slab of lava.

Stoke Canon bridge, which stretches over the River Culm. Bishop Stapeldon left money in his will (1326) for its upkeep. It has been widened to carry the modern main road.

Nearby Exeter offers the main shopping facilities and services. Exeter is where the main jobs and employment are.

Exeter has a University an International Airport, great shopping and some wonderful countryside. There are many hotels, guest houses, bed & breakfasts and self catering accommodation to enjoy your stay. There is a lovely atmosphere with many restaurants, cafes, bars and eateries.

Dartmoor National Park is very close by and offers something special. The coast is also not far.
